Zed Factor Fellowship
An aerospace industry and cadre of professionals comprising of people of all backgrounds, creating a more inclusive, well-rounded and ultimately more impactful and effective nation and world. Our mission is to address the historical exclusion of groups in the aerospace sector through institutional support and mentorship.

National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship Program
The National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship Program is a joint program of the United States Army, Navy and Air Force within the University Research Initiative (URI), designed to increase the number of U.S. citizens trained in disciplines of science and engineering important to defense goals. DoD awards approximately 100-150 new three-year graduate fellowships each year to individuals for study and research leading to doctoral degrees in, or closely related to, the disciplines of aeronautical and astronautical engineering; biosciences; chemical engineering; chemistry; cognitive, neural and behavioral sciences; electrical engineering; geosciences; civil engineering; computer and computational sciences; materials science and engineering; mathematics; mechanical engineering; naval architecture and ocean engineering; oceanography; and physics.

Eligibility:

Be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Dual Citizen, or U.S. National (as defined below)

Have completed your undergraduate studies prior to the commencement of the fellowship year. For example, if applying for 2026 fellowship year, you must have completed your undergraduate studies as of 2025.

Be applying to, accepted to, or currently enrolled at an accredited graduate-level institution within the United States. If enrolled, you must be or near the beginning (within first 2 years) of your Graduate study in Science or Engineering.

Have at *least* THREE remaining years in your graduate degree program at the time of application.

Be pursuing research in alignment with one or more specific topics identified in the Department of Defense's Broad Agency Announcements (BAAs).

NASA Space Technology Graduate Research Opportunities (NSTGRO)
This solicitation, first released in September of 2019, replaces the NASA Space Technology Research Fellowships solicitation. NSTGRO20 marks the tenth consecutive year that NASA’s Space Technology Mission directorate seeks to sponsor U.S. citizen and permanent resident graduate students who show significant potential to contribute to NASA’s goal of creating innovative new space technologies for our Nation’s science, exploration and economic future. NASA Space Technology Graduate Researchers will perform innovative, space technology research at their respective campuses and at NASA Centers. Awards are made in the form of grants to accredited U.S. universities on behalf of individuals pursuing master’s or doctoral degrees, with the faculty advisor serving as the principal investigator.

Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans
Providing merit-based funding for New Americans, immigrants and children of immigrants, who are poised to make significant contributions to US culture, society and academia

GEM Fellowship

GEM offers MS and Ph.D. level students an outstanding opportunity and access to dozens of the top Engineering and Science firms and Universities in the nation. The GEM Fellowship was designed to focus on promoting opportunities for individuals to enter industry at the graduate level in areas such as research and development, product development, and other high level technical careers. GEM also offers exposure to a number of opportunities in academia.

Must be a senior, or graduate of an accredited engineering or computer science program at the time of application.

Must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.8/4.0.

Must contractually agree to intern for two summers with sponsoring GEM Employer, beginning the Summer after sponsorship.
PhD Engineering and Science Fellowship

Must be a senior, masters student, or graduate of an accredited engineering or applied science program at the time of application.

Must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0/4.0.

Must contractually agree to intern with a GEM Employer member the Summer immediately after sponsorship.

Patti Grace Smith Fellowship
Jobs, mentorship, and community for extraordinary undergrads seeking aerospace careers. This program has a proven track record of success in historically underserved Black communities, including Black aerospace engineers and other aerospace professionals.

NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program
​The purpose of the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) is to help ensure the quality, vitality, and strength of the scientific and engineering workforce of the United States. Since 1952, the program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students who are pursuing full-time research-based master's and doctoral degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields, including STEM education. NSF GRFP was established to recruit and support individuals who demonstrate the potential to make significant contributions in STEM, including STEM education. NSF encourages applications from the full spectrum of talent that the U.S. has to offer.

​Must, at the time of submission, be a U.S. citizen, national, or a permanent resident (“green-card” holder)

Must intend to enroll or be enrolled full-time in an eligible research-based master's or doctoral degree program in an eligible field of study in STEM, including STEM education (See Appendix and Section IV.3 for eligible Fields of Study);

Never have previously accepted a Graduate Research Fellowship;

Have declined any previously offered Graduate Research Fellowship by the deadline (if applicable);

Have completed less than one academic year in a graduate degree program (according to the institution’s academic calendar; non-degree coursework must be clearly identified in the transcript and does not count toward this limit). This means individuals in the following statuses at the time of application are eligible:
Level 1: Undergraduate in the final (senior) year of a bachelor’s degree program
Level 1: Bachelor’s degree-holder with NO enrollment in a graduate degree program (non-degree graduate coursework allowed)
Level 2: Individual enrolled in a joint bachelor’s-master’s degree program with at least three undergraduate years completed
Level 2: First-year graduate student in their first graduate degree program with less than one academic year completed in the degree program (according to institution’s academic calendar) -
Individuals enrolled in joint bachelor’s-master’s degree programs are considered graduate students. For GRFP, joint bachelor’s-master’s degrees are defined as degrees concurrently pursued and awarded.
